What kind of internet connection do I need?
To run Roqbot in your venue, we recommend a DSL or cable connection of at least 1 MB per second (an average speed), especially if you also use your network to run other devices or allow customer access to your Wi-Fi. Do I need a wired connection or can I use wireless?
Roqbot easily runs on either wired or wireless connections on any internet-enabled device, such as a computer, smartphone, iPod Touch or Roku.
Do customers need my venue’s internet connection to use Roqbot’s mobile apps?
No, customers will typically use the 3G connection on their mobile phones to use Roqbot apps. However, they can also use your venue’s Wi-Fi connection if you allow access.
What hardware does Roqbot provide?
Roqbot provides a free Roku player to any business that opts in to our one-year plan. Otherwise, businesses use any of their own internet-enabled devices (computer, smartphone, iPod Touch or Roku) connected to the venue sound system.
How do I install the hardware?
Once you sign up, Roqbot is easily installed in less than ten minutes on any of the following devices. If you prefer, one of our local installation partners can help for a small fee.
iPod Touch and iPhone: Simply download our free 'Roqbot Player' app from the iTunes app store.
Computer/Laptop: Once you’ve logged in to your account, launch the Roqbot player from our home page, with just one click.
Roku: Official setup instructions can be found here. Once your Roku is connected, Roqbot’s private ‘channel’ is easily installed via a link in your confirmation email.
Do I have influence on the music played in my venue?
Of course. Unlike other services, each business can customize their music library by choosing from Roqbot’s genre-specific catalogs or importing their own music from an iPod or iTunes. Business staff can also play specific songs at any time.
Can I override user plays?
Yes, businesses always have control over the music played in their venue and can easily customize their music library to meet specific needs. You can override user plays anytime by selecting “Skip” on the Roqbot player.
Can I filter out songs with explicit lyrics?
Yes, you can easily disable all songs with explicit lyrics. Our system will automatically default to the “clean” versions of those songs, if they’re available.
I don’t have a computer at the bar. Can I manage my library from my phone?
Yes! You can access the Roqbot mobile website (m.roqbot.com) on any smartphone to manage your venue’s music library, as well as easily add or exclude artists and even set temporary playlists (for that spontaneous 80’s dance party your customers requested).
Do I have to sign a contract?
No, there is no long-term commitment required. You can cancel at any time.
What is Roku?
Roku is a digital media player - similar to Apple TV or Boxee - that connects to your venue’s internet, sound system and TV(s). We recommend using Roku because it not only plays Roqbot music in your venue, but also displays user song plays on your TV screen(s), making the Roqbot experience more entertaining and keeping your customers around longer. Roku models range from $60 - $100, but we provide a free Roku player to businesses that opt in to a one-year Roqbot plan.
How does Roqbot run on Roku?
The Roku is installed easily in less than ten minutes. Roqbot’s private Roku channel uses the internet and standard connection A/V (HDMI, Component) to stream music through the sound system and TV(s) in your venue.
How do I cancel my Roqbot business account?
To cancel your Roqbot account just login and go to the Manage Venue - Billing section to cancel your account or edit your billing info.
How do I add my music to Roqbot?
You cannot upload your own music to the Roqbot jukebox. However, you can sync your iTunes playlists to match the songs we have in our database. With 6 million songs and counting, it is likely that we have your music. If we don't have your favorite songs or artists we can usually add them.
How do I add a staff member to my Roqbot business account?
If you are set as an admin at your venue you can give your staff members full or limited admin rights. Login to the Roqbot website and click manage venue. From the manage page click on the Staff link and add their DJ name. You can also add staff from the Roqbot iPhone or Android application by going to More - Manage Venue. Select your business and scroll down to "set staff."
